Fried Nutella Banana Pies

Fried Nutella Banana Hand Pies
Ohmagod. Like nutella? Like banana’s? Like fried food?
If you said no to any of those, I’m not totally sure how to deal with you, and you should probably not stay. If you liked even 2 out of 3, stay and let’s talk.
Fried Nutella Banana Hand Pies
We can talk about how nutella is better when hot and gooey. And how that hot and gooey nutella makes the bananas out of this world. And when they are packaged up in a crispy, sugary blanket? Well, I can’t say enough about these.
Fried Nutella Banana Hand Pies
I know that going to the trouble of deep frying something is serious, but these are seriously good. Seriously.
Fried Nutella Banana Hand Pies
I have actually made these several times over the last few months, but I saved these to post this week, because it is a va-va-va-voom dessert. It is exactly the kind of dessert I would want to make for my man or for a romantic Valentines Day dinner, but is also the exact kind of dessert my kids would be happy with if were sharing the “holiday” with them instead. So either way, I’m pretty sure you are covered.
I also feel like this would be a really fun dessert if you were having friends for dinner. Mine would freak out.
If you want to make them, here is what you do:
Roll out the pie crust to 1/8th inch thick. Use a 4” round cookie cutter to make circles of pie dough.

Top with 1 tablespoon of nutella and a few pieces of sliced banana.

Brush the beaten egg around the edge of the pie crust and then fold it over and very gently use a fork to pinch the edges together without breaking through the pie crust. Chill in the refrigerator until ready to fry.
Fried Nutella Banana Hand Pies
Bring the vegetable oil up to 375 degrees in a large heavy pot. Gently add the pies, a few at a time, to the hot oil and gently fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes on each side.
Fried Nutella Banana Hand Pies
Gently remove from the oil with a slotted spoon or strainer. Quickly drain on a paper towel.

Generously sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve hot. (these stay hot for a long time!)
